Manchester City's Alvaro Negredo (centre right) celebrates with team-mate Yaya Toure |
Manchester City ran riot against Tottenham as they cruised to a 6-0 win in the Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium.
Sergio Aguero scored twice as Manuel Pellegrini's men continued their
perfect home record in the league, and the 2011-12 champions have now
averaged four goals a game in home matches this season.
Aguero was on Fire as he score twice for City |
Tottenham's defence, the meanest in the league going into Sunday's
match, was repeatedly cut open by the home side from the opening moments
of the game. indeed, the first goal took just 14 seconds as City made
the most of an abysmal clearance by Hugo Lloris that gifted the ball to Aguero. Lloris saved the Argentine's shot, but Jesus Navas was on hand to thump in the rebound.
Alvaro Negrado score a beauty goal for City. |
The game's outstanding moment? There are plenty to choose from but
Agüero's second goal was certainly a candidate. Yaya Touré played
one-twos with Fernandinho and Negredo in the build-up, surging through
the Spurs defence and expertly rolling the ball into Agüero's path.
Thirty-seven goals in nine home wins, City will be unstoppable if they
can start playing with this brutal sophistication away from their own
ground.
